Connecticut
Connecticut’s vector control landscape is built on strong interagency collaboration at the state level, particularly among CAES, DEEP, DPH, and the state’s vet office, while a ‘home rule’ approach gives each town authority over mosquito control. State-led surveillance, guidance, and emergency response are complemented by active extension programs with close ties to local communities, with opportunities to further strengthen statewide efforts between extension and other state agencies around outreach and education. Most control work centers on surveillance and education, with direct interventions reserved for outbreaks or on state lands. Regular communication and long standing relationships underpin the system’s effectiveness.
